How To Create Low Calorie Fruit Juicing Recipes for Weight Loss
With any juicing recipe you are trying to create that is low calorie you need to know the calories in the fruits or vegetables you are using. Certain fruits are of course higher in calories, so should be used more sparingly when you are going for a low calorie recipe. Other fruits are great for juicing because, though they may have calories, they have a high liquid content, making you more juice. Sort of like more bang for the buck.
Best Fruits for Juicing
Certain fruits have more liquid than others. Some of the fruits with the highest water content: (also giving the number of calories per 100 grams of the fruit)
- Watermelon (100 grams = 30 calories)
- Strawberries (100 grams = 32 calories)
- Grapefruit (100 grams = 30 calories)
- Cantaloupe (100 grams = 34 calories)
- Peaches (100 grams = 39 calories)
- Oranges (100 grams = 49 calories)
- Raspberries (100 grams = 52 calories)
- Pineapple (100 grams = 53 calories)
- Apple (100 grams = 52 calories)
- Lemons and Limes (more for flavor, but only about 10 calories for 1/2 of a fruit)
When looking at these numbers above you can easily see that certain fruits have more calories than others for the same amount of grams. Sometimes this is because the fruit is sweeter. When you are just adding one or two fruits to a mostly vegetable recipe, then the sweetness matters. When you are looking to juice all fruit you should look at the calories if you are trying to create low calorie fruit juice recipes. When you create an all fruit juicing recipe, it will be sweet, no matter what.

Getting the calories down in an all fruit Juicing Recipe
One other way you can get the calories down in an all fruit juice recipe is to add liquid to it. Adding a carbonated water like seltzer, club soda or even a flavored (but not sweetened) water like LaCroix. Some of the carbonated waters with flavors might even make the juice taste better. Carbonated waters will allow you to have more to drink for the same amount of calories. Bubbly water also makes the juice a little more fun. If you are a soda drinker, this is a healthy replacement for those other empty calories or fake sweeteners. In fact, changing over to these carbonated juices might help you kick the soda habit all together.
